05/05/05 - The NMSEA server is live. We did not do as much work as anticipated. http://www.nmsea.org). Read more

04/06/05 - We are setting up a Gnu/Linux computer for the Aztec Coffee Shop for customers to surf/email/etc, free of charge (free wireless too). They are excited about the stability of Linux and the free and open nature. Also, there is virtually no maintenance needed, since we scripted it to reset itself back to the original configuration every night.

03/10/05 - Brantley Coile, founder of Coraid, will be giving a presentation on a type of SAN using ATA over ethernet. In his own words, "The EtherDrive storage blades are a way to connect disk drives directly on an Ethernet network. A GPL device driver for Linux completes the picture by making the disks appear local. We've defined a new protocol, AoE or ATA-over-Ethernet, to do this. EtherDrive storage blades are like Storage Area Network but much, much less expensive. Now the Linux community can do a lot of nifty things that were too expensive before."

01/21/05 - Free Software for Free Sound -- Derek Holzer
This talk will give a quick tour through the land of free+open source software for producing sound and video under Linux [and to a lesser extent Mac OSX], moving from graphical-user-interface applications geared towards basic tasks like recording, editing, sequencing and processing audio and video to the more complex graphical programming environment Pure Data. Various Linux distributions geared towards audio and video production will also be introduced. The presentation will be on Thursday the 27th at 5:30.

12/30/04 - The Santa Fe Baking Company has purchased a computer for the NMGLUG to install GnuLinux on. It won't be the breadbox but will be free.
